WE CAN START 3 MEALS A DAY,SNACKS AND DRINKS.
AND MOTHER'S MILK IN REMAINING FEED.
THE FOOD TEXTURE CAN BE LITTLE ROUGHER.
FOOD TO BE PROVIDED:
6-9 months:
The same receipes which we follow in 4-6 months can be given in semi solid form with increased qty.
Can give the same food cooked for us but with less spice.
special receipe for 6 months baby:
1.plain rice with dal
toordal cooked-2 tbsp
jeera.pepper,garlic,curryleaves-crushed-1/4 tsp
hot ghee-1/4 tsp
little salt
mix all the ingredients together.
mash the hot rice ,add dal mixture.
mix well and feed the kid.
Other receipes are given in kids receipe section.
From the 8th month all the foods eaten by elders,can be feeded to kid also.
9-12 months:
Boiled egg and the foods provided in 4-6 months can be feeded with increased qty and in solid form.
Note:
Special feed:
1.Raagi porridge
while grinding raagi,add soaked badam(2),dates,cashew(1) and 1 pista.
grind altogether well and squeeze milk.
add cow's milk,sugar.
cook in low flame,add 1 spoon of ghee and mix till alva level.
feed ur kid a healthy dish everyday.
2.Nendira delight
banana nendiram,steam cooked apple,dates
blend together and feed.
FOODS FOR THE KIDS 4 -6 MONTHS:
1.COOK THE DHAL(TOOR DAL OR MOONG DAL),STRAIN THE WATER.
ADD A PINCH OF SALT AND PEPPER POWDER IF PREFERED.
2.VEG SOUP:
In the beginning ,give the veg water(cook and strain water)
Then we can start,
Carrot,beans,cauliflower,broccoli(if preferred)
Garlic and onion –little
Cook altogether .mash it and add little pepper powder and salt.
RAAGI PORRIDGE
In the beginning ,take a tbsp of sprouted raagi.
Soak for sometime and blend it.
Squeeze out the milk well.
Add nattu(brown) sugar -1/2 tsp
and cow’s milk-1/2 cup
mix altogether(raagi milk,b.sugar and milk),keep on stove and keep on stir in low flame without lumps.
Stir well till it is cooked and becomes thin soup consistency.
Feed when it is luke warm.
The qty can be increased after 5 months.
BROKEN RICE PORRIDGE
Wash the rice and drain in cloth.
Broken the rice (kuranai rice).
Keep in air-tight container.
Boil ½ cup of water ,add 2 tsp of rice.cook and mash well
Add milk,pinch of sugar or salt.
Option: can cook the rice with milk.
Blend to a form of soup and feed.
The qty of rice can be increased after 5 months.
PULPY FRUITS:
Any pulpy fruits can be steam cooked(don’t cut and cook)
If need peel skin to certain fruits like apple,mango.
Mash well and add a pinch of pepper powder(to prevent from cold)
Note:make the pepper powder in home,sieve and store it.
BANANA(NENDIRAM)
Can be steamcook,mash .
Add milk and feed.
Or
Can dry the banana in indirect sun.
Powder it.
Store it.
Use 1 tbsp of banana powder in beginning,then gradually increase.
Mix in milk and cook in sim flame till soup consistency.
WHEAT PORRIDGE
Wash and Soak 1 tbsp of wheat for sometime.
Blend and squeeze out the milk.
Add cow’s milk,sugar,wheat milk together.
Keep on stove in low flame and stir till cooked and gets soup consistency.
Gradually increase the qty of wheat.
4.5 TO 6 MONTHS BABY
Only the mother’s milk won’t be sufficient after 4 months.
So we can start the liquid foods for baby.
TIPS:
OTHER THAN MOTHER’S MILK,ONE MEAL A DAY IS ENOUGH TILL 5 MONTHS COMPLETION.
IN THE BEGINNING WE SHOULD TRY ONE RECEIPE FOR THE BABY (WITH SMALL QUANTITY) AND CONTINUE THE SAME FOR ATLEAST 4 DAYS.IF THE FOOD DOESN’T AFFECT THE BABY IN ANYFORM,NEXT DAY WE CAN START OTHER RECEIPE.
EXAMPLE:
TODAY IS MONDAY,START GIVING DAL WATER (2 SPOONS IN THE BEGINNING)
IF IT SUITS HER,GIVE 3 SPOONS NEXT DAY,LIKEWISE INCREASE THE QUANTITY FOR EACH ITEM.[SUITS THE BABY IN THE SENSE ,SOME BABY MAY GET DISENTRY,COLIC,ETC]
THEN AFTER 4 DAYS,ON FRIDAY TRY TO GIVE SOME SOUP.TRY WITH SMALL QUANTITY.
After the completion of 5 months,we can start 2 meals a day.
Morning one receipe,evening one receipe and mother’s milk in other times asusual.
Example
Try raggi porridge in the morning and veg soup in the evening.
Foods that can be provided.
start with:
1. Give the dal water with a pinch of salt.
2. veg soup(mentioned in kids food)
3. sprouts raagi porridge
4. broken rice porridge
5. pulpy fruits,cook ,mash and give with a pinch of pepper powder(they won’t get cold)
6. Nendira banana-semi cooked and mashed or in the form of porridge.(high protein food)
7. wheat porridge.
8. fruit juices with a pinch of pepper and rock salt(for digestion)
orange juice has folic acid which helps in child’s brain development.
9. milk if u preferred : soak dates or palm sugar candy with milk ,strain and feed.(try to avoid sugar)
10. spinach soup
JUST BORN BABIES:
Breast feeding is the only best and healthy food for your baby.
For the first three months ,give only mother’s milk.
BENEFITS OF BREAST FEEDING:
Breast feeding is always the right consistency with the correct amount of water and nutrients.
Antibodies in mother’s milk protect the baby against infection and also from other allergic conditions.
Milk of mothers has higher fat and protein;lower lactose content.
Has more iron.
Easily digestible.
Types of breast milk:
Fore-milk:
It comes from the duct just behind the nipple which is watery and satisfy baby’s thrist,low in fat.
Hind-milk:
It is produced later in response to sucking which is richer in calories and higher in fat.
TIPS FOR THE MOMS:
Feel in happy mood when you feed your baby,don’t think unwanted matters at the time of feeding.
Wind your baby each and everytime after her feed.
The action of sucking helps your uterus to contract.
FOLLOW THE EXERCISES TAUGHT BY UR DOCTOR.
The risk of getting breast cancer will be reduced by breast feeding.
You use up more calories,helping you to return to your pre-pregnant shape and size.
It improves bonding with your child because of skin-to-skin contact.
LATCHING ON PROPERLY WILL GIVE OUT MILK -Ensure that your baby has the whole nipple and most of the areola are inside the mouth.THE BOTTOM PART OF THE AREOLA SHOULD BE TOTALLY COVERED.
Don’t think that you don’t have milk,milk will automatically secrets when your baby keep its mouth and start sucking.
Don’t waste or leave to give your first milk because for the first few days ,you will produce only yellowish fluid called colostrums which is rich in protein,minerals and low fat.
This milk is very important for your baby.
Feed your baby whenever it feels hungry.
For each feed use your both breast for fresh milk everytime.
Food for moms:
You will need an extra of atleast +400 calories a day to sustain milk production.
Take healthy food; give importance to fruits,buttermilk, veg or non-veg soups instead of taking more solid foods.
Taking the foods in the form of liquid increases your milk(secrets milk) and you will also prevent from extra weight gaining.
Don’t do heavy work because it may cause in lose of calories.
Have a nap when you get time because lying down and taking rest will boost your milk supply.
Intake of palak(in any form-soup,palakdal curry,palak rice,etc)
Will secrets your milk,it is rich in iron,it has more calcium,
It has folic acid which helps in brain development.
Take badam daily,orange juice-which also has folic acid.
Don’ts:
Avoid eating junk foods for your child sake till your feeding ends.
Avoid eating more oily,bakery items(cake,puffs) which will be difficult for your baby to digest and may cause stomach ache,vomit,etc at sometimes ,because mother’s milk is the only food for them.
Best advice is to feed your baby for atleast 1 year.
